Funeral

Yesterday I went to my first ever child's funeral. It was for a 5-year old boy that was in Pre-K last year. He wasn't in my class, but I knew him very well. He was in kindergarten this year and was killed in a car wreck.

It was the saddest, most pitiful thing I've ever witnessed. He had a terrible home life and his mom, who wasn't even in the picture when he was in Pre-K, was there yesterday. His uncle, who was driving the car, was there, too. He's in a wheelchair, had hip surgery, had a brace on his knee, and both arms were broken. I can't imagine what he must be going through. Or any of them, for that matter.

It was so sad to be there. It was very hard to lose my dad, but he had lived a pretty good life. Aaron was only 5 years old! He didn't even get to finish kindergarten. I can't imagine.

I know some amazingly, strong people that have gone through this and I admire them. I pray that the Lord will use this to touch his family and draw them closer to Him. I pray that He will give them comfort and peace in this difficult time and help them to remember all the wonderful times with Aaron.

Please join me in praying.

Mayday, Mayday!

I cannot believe what a busy month May has been.

The first big event we had was Mother's Day. I hosted the party at my house and had 11 people here! That is the biggest crowd I've ever had at one time. It was wonderful! I made muenster chicken, green bean bundles, crunchy cole slaw, twice-baked potatoes, and a cheeseball! Woo!!! Tim made bread and Nick's sister did dessert. All the food ended up being ready at the exact same time (so very hard to do and never happened to me before!) and it all tasted great. Besides burning the crunchies for the cole slaw twice, it went off without a glitch!

Just for your viewing entertainment, here is a pic of my mom, sis and me.

And here's one of Nick's mom, his brother, his sister, and him.

We had a wonderful time. The very next day was Tim's birthday and Nick's Uncle Steve's birthday, so they opened presents at my house, too.

The next big event we had was the last day of school! I had a tough year with a couple of my boys, but for the most part, I loved my class and I'm going to miss them! Especially, these two. Brooklyn and Brady! They are my favorites. These pictures were taken at the beginnig of the year and they've changed so much, but crazy me, I didn't take any others!

The next event was Mallory's graduation. I'm so proud of her! She had a tough year, but she pulled through and has turned into a wonderful young mother. She's also going to OU next year, so I could't be more happy for her. I don't have any pictures from this event, but I know there are some on Facebook. Click here for Megan's facebook album.

The very next day, we had a surprise party for my mom's 50th birthday! It was at Charleston's at 2p on Saturday. Nick was playing golf that day, Cassie and Cal had a wedding in Tulsa that day, so I went to Tulsa with Mom and Tim. She had no idea why! We went early, because I thought Nick would be done golfing early and we could meet up with him, and he and I could go to the mall to pick up her present. Well, he wasn't done early. In fact, he was barely done by 1:30p! He had to run to the mall by himself and Tim and I just had to keep stalling Mom. She was hungry and she couldn't figure out why Tim wanted to wait until about 2:15p to eat! It was so hard. We spent many long hours in Target, Lowe's, and Bass Pro. When we finally got there, though, they had a huge table set up for us and Grandpa Dennis, Uncle Les and Aunt Terri, Rachel and Sean, Aunt Marian, Emily and Harper, and Becky, Dustin and Chloe were all waiting on us! Oh, and of course Nick, Cassie and Callen:) She cried and was so surprised! It was wonderful!!!

The next day was her and my dad's anniversary. It would've been 30 years! Crazy to think about.

Our next big event is Memorial Day weekend! It's looking like it's going to be a crazy, fun holiday! It's Nick's mom's family reunion barbecue hosted at her house and I think my parents and Cassie are going to come. It should be really fun and I promise I'll take my camera and post lots of pics!!!

School's Out for Summer

Wow! What a crazy couple of months. Hopefully, with my new freedom (i.e. the summer!), I will find more time to blog.

Since we've last talked, my sister got engaged, we've had Spring Break, the end of baseball, and the end of school! Again, all I can say is Wow!

Over Spring Break, my mom, sister and I went to Dallas and found Cassie's wedding dress. It's gorgeous. Her theme is vintage/rustic, and the dress is perfect. We also found her/our bridesmaid dresses and the venue. It's called The Silo Center. You can go here to view it. Her date is 1/1/11. So, it's kind of perfect!

Baseball season ended earier than normal. They had a rough year and Nick was ready to be done. We love those boys, but it was a long, difficult season.

I said goodbye to my 4-year olds last Thursay, and I'm so sad about it. I'm going to watch a few of them play t-ball on Friday and I couldn't be more excited.

Nick also found out he's going to have to coach ninth-grade girls basketball in the winter, so we're not really looking forward to that. We've been so use to him having the winters off and we've gotten spoiled, but the extra pay will hopefully make it worth it!

Other than that, just enjoying the summer so far. We had a wonderful surprise party for my mom's 50th last weekend and we're having a big reunion for Nick's mom side of the family on Memorial Day Weekend. We're looking forward to relaxing, getting some things done around the house, and enjoying the time off!
