Pumpkin Patch and Hayride

A few weeks ago, Nick and I drove with some friends for about an hour to a pumpkin patch and corn maze. We'd never been to one of these before, being first-time parents and all, and we didn't know how big it would be! It was huge and we didn't bring our stroller! So, we had to carry him the whole time (he's getting a little heavy) and it was so hot! We had him dressed in longsleeve and overalls because it was cool that morning at church, but it was 80 degrees that afternoon! Needless to say, all three of us were worn out, but we had a great time! I definitely think he'll have more fun next year and we'll be better prepared, but memories memories!!!

They have a little waterpump that makes rubber ducks go down a ditch. He had fun helping daddy pump the water

Then they have a sandbox filled with corn kernels instead of sand! It was so cute watching him feel it. He loved the texture, but he kept wanting to eat it:)

He and daddy resting on a bench

Measuring to see how tall he is

Sitting on a gutted out tractor

And hating sticking his head into the hole of a sunflower:)

Then he and mommy got to go down a slide

And we all finally made it to the hayride

By this time, it was so hot we had to lose the shirt!

Here are our lovely friends: Michael, Nakilah and their daughter Alivia

It was now the end of our trip, so we got in the wheelbarrow with our pumpkins and headed to the car:(

We were all talking about how they'll be walking and running around everywhere next year! It will be so much fun:) I can't believe he's growing up so fast, but each new season is more exciting than the last! I love every minute of it:)

Nine Months (A Week and a Half Late)

My dear little boy,

These days, weeks and months seem to fly by with you around! You keep us so busy it's hard to even sit sometimes!

You've grown and changed so much. You are now in 12 months close and still in size 3diapers. You had your third haircut and you almost need another one!

You have done more firsts this month! You started going to football games! We only stay until half-time because they start at your bedtime - 7:30p!! You have so much fun, though. You love to people watch, watch the cheerleaders and the band! We've gone to a Pryor game (with Mimi), a Coweta game (with Poppy and Aunt Cassie), a Welch game (with Papa Rock and Nana), and of course a Miami game:) The only team we have left to see is Uncle Callen's Bixby Spartans!

Speaking of bedtime, you still go to bed at 7:30p right after your bath, bottle, story and song! You are really getting attached to Geoffrey. He has to be with us when we're getting ready for bed now, not just when you get into bed. It's still so cute though:)

You got a new carseat this month and you love having Geoffrey in there too:) You sleep in there so much better with Geoffrey! You have also started learning to not drop your head so much.

The main accomplishment this month was crawling! You started army crawling and just this past week have actually gotten on your hands and knees! You don't go very far, but you definitely want to. It's so cute! You can even crawl up the step into the kitchen and you plop back down! You seemed a little timid at first, but once you did it, you had no fear at all! Just up and down, up and down all the time! It's definitely been a challenge for Daddy and I to keep up with you. Your favorite things to get out are the DVDs and the magazines. Your entire head will be in the end table where the magazines are. I don't think it'll be too long before you're pulling up!

You have three teeth, so you have started eating more table food now. You'll try just about anything we give you, but right now it seems you're a lot like Daddy...picky! You absolutely love cheese and pieces of ham and turkey. You also like rice and bread. We can just give you a slice of bread (toasted or not) and you'll go to town! It's messy, but you like it:) The only fruit you'll eat right now is pears. You don't really like bananas, but you'll eat them as baby food! Who knows?! When we give you pieces of banana, it's like you don't know how to swallow. You'll chew for a little bit and you'll just hold it all in the front of your mouth underneath your tongue! It's crazy;) I don't know how you do it! This was the first time you ate spaghetti, but you love it now!

You also got to meet Great-Uncle Greg and Great-Aunt Debby and your first cousin once-removed, Melissa, this month:) You also met Great-Great Uncle Jay and Great-Great Aunt Nancy! They were so excited to meet you! They love you to pieces. You loved them, too:) I didn't get any pictures of you with them, but I did get one of you and Uncle Greg at church:) He had a blast with you!!

You have many firsts coming up, so Mommy will do a much better job of writing about it! I want to record your whole life little man so I can look back and watch every moment! This isn't possible, so I just try to make many memories with you! You make me laugh everyday with your new discoveries and as I say in every letter, I'm tickled to be a part of your life:)

We love you so much and we are so proud of the little man you're becoming!!!

All our love,
Mommy and Daddy

Lucas' First Field Trip

Today my little man is 9 months old! I can't believe it!! I will post his letter, but he goes to the doctor Monday and I'm going to wait until after that:)

Yesterday, our babysitter was sick, so Nick took off with Lucas. He had an eye appointment yesterday afternoon so he brought him up to me at school. It worked out perfectly because my class was going on a field trip to a pumpkin patch! I was so excited to take him. He'd never ridden a bus or seen a pumpkin before, so it was going to be great fun!

My kids absolutely loved him being there with us! They can't get enough of him everytime he comes for a visit!

I know, I know...shame on me for having him on a bus, but I had no other option. He loved the bumpy ride, but it was not easy to take a picture. This is horrible, but it's the best I got;)

Each student got to pick a pumpkin and I cut it for them. They also let me pick one for Lucas. It was the perfect little round pumpkin and he absolutely loved it. I snapped a lot of pictures of him exploring it for the first time!

And one of him and me at the end of the table with all my kids eating their snack:)Again, not great, but you can imagine he had a lot to look at!

Speaking of snack, I found this idea for a pumpkin rice krispie treat from Pinterest and we made them! This is what they're really supposed to look like.

Apparently, I didn't add enough food coloring and my kids formed them, so we didn't do the leaves, but they loved making them!

All in all, it was a great day and the weather was beautiful! A fun first in Lucas' life:)

P.S. Go see my dear friend Whitney for a wonderful giveaway!

And the Oscar Goes To...

As many of you know, I'm a movie fanatic!

I can quote most of the movies I own word for word...yes it's a little annoying:)

But I love going to the movies. I love to see the Best Oscar nominees list and see all the movies that were nominated.

Nick and I have always gone to movies together too. It's one of our favorite pastimes. Well, since we've had Lucas, we've only gone to one movie. "True Grit" on Valentine's Day. It was amazing, but that was 7 months ago!

Well, I was feeling a little blue this weekend because there's so much I want to do with Nick and Lucas, but we don't have the money or the time to fit everything in! That's neither here nor there, but Nick heard my pleas and took me out yesterday!

We went to see a movie:) It was wonderful! Just the two of us:) $10 for popcorn and a Pepsi was totally worth it! "The Ides of March" was wonderful! A lot of language, but it will probably be nominated! It wouldn't have even mattered if the movie would've been horrible...I had a much-needed, long-overdue date with my man and I loved it! We went to the mall and picked up a birthday present after, went to Target for groceries and went through the drive-thru at Wendy's! Not a crazy, adventurous date, but a date nonetheless!

I didn't snap any pictures of the two of us on our date, but I did get one of this girl:) She was so cute standing outside of Wendy's! She had the dress, the braids, the freckles; the works!

Dates are so important! I love my little man so much and I would love to spend every waking minute with him, but I love my big man too:) It started out just the two of us and it will end just the two of us.

Thanks babe for taking me out when I needed it the most!

All my love!

Yummy Fall Treats

I made these acorns with my class last week for Letter A and they absolutely loved them. They are so cute and some sweet day I'll make them with Lucas.

Those of you with little kids should make them, as well!

You start off with these four ingredients:

Donut holes (I bought mine at Wal-Mart, but I know the real ones at a donut shop are much better), chocolate iciing (or you could use peanut butter), chopped peanuts (or you can use a toffee topping), and a pretzel stick.

You dip the donut hole in the iciing, then in the crushed peanuts and finally stick in the pretzel stick!

So cute and so fun:)
