4 Months

Lucas Rial,

Wow! I can't believe you are already 4 months old! This past month has been so busy! Easter, Mother's Day, two nights at Mimi's, and lots of big changes in you!

I wanted to wait until your 4-month check-up to write your letter to see how much you've grown! You weight 14 lb 3 oz (37%) and are 25 in long (55%). The doctor says you'll be going through a major growth spurt anytime now because you've only grown an inch since your last check-up:) We can see that you're growing, though. You are in 3-6 months jammies and a few 3-6 months clothes. You are in size 1-2 diapers, too.

You are still a champ at night! You start to wind down about 7:30p every night. You get a bath and get your bottle and are sound asleep by 8:30p and you don't wake up until about 6:45p. Sometimes we have to wake you up and you aren't very happy:(

You eat 6 oz every 4 hours or so and you just started rice cereal yesterday! It was quite an experience. You didn't understand that you were getting fed at first, so you were very mad! So, we fed you a little in a bottle first, then gave you some with a spoon. At first, you just let it fall out of your mouth, then you started sucking on the spoon and it helped you swallow. You did much better after that. We'll try some more tonight and once you have it down, we'll move onto baby food. I have no doubt you'll pick it up fast. You're such a great learner, baby!

You had a wonderful Easter and you made Mommy have a wonderful first Mother's Day! We made Mimi a scrapbook for Mother's Day and she loved it! It was full of pictures of you:) (Mommy will post all about that later) You stayed the night with Mimi twice this month. Mommy came later those nights, but you were already asleep. You have so much fun with her and Poppy. They always make you laugh:)

You laugh at so much now and people are always telling Mommy and Daddy how lucky we are that you're such a content and chill little boy. One thing that you've become more content at this month is tummy time. You've learned to hold your head up consistently now, and this makes tummy time more enjoyable now that you can look around. Mommy just loves seeing you explore and she loves your little booty, too:)

Mommy and Daddy just absolutely love seeing your little personality bloom! You will lay on your mat for hours and talk to us and we can't get enough:) You also love your bumbo and your bouncer and you love to kick! That's why you like the bath so much, I think:)

We are loving every minute of your little life and we don't want to miss one second:) In a few short days, we'll be out of school for the summer and we cannot wait! We have so much planned to take you to and so many things we are excited for you to see!

Thanks for making our lives so full:) We love you so much!

All our love,
Mommy and Daddy

Made Just for Him

I realize I never posted pictures of Lucas' nursery on here! Better late than never, right?

Before I knew I was having a boy, I looked for boy bedding! I knew I wanted something "sporty", but not "cutesy". I knew I wanted masculine colors, but not to be too bright or too "grown-up". It was hard to find just the right balance. I finally stumbled upon "Cooperstown" on www.babysupermall.com and it was just perfect:)

The day after my ultrasound revealed that I was having a boy and we knew Lucas was arriving, my mom bought the bedding! It was such a sweet gift and was the jumping off point to his whole nursery! We had so much fun getting a new fan, painting, getting new carpet, and buying the furniture and decor that would be his place of refuge for the first two years; the first bed that he slept in, where I held him and we both cried the first day home, where we see lots of smiles, where we unpacked clothes and gifts and wrote thank you cards to friends and family, where we became parents!

Here's the room when you first walk in the door (I'm so mad I didn't have the curtains tied back for this first picture)

A close-up of the curtains and changing table (Lucas' favorite spot in his room right now!)

The "lockers" to the left of the changing table (made by my step-dad: Poppy)

A close-up (this frame is now filled with a picture of the three of us)

A close-up of the lockers on the right (The white teddy bear is the first present I received from my daddy; the bear was mine when I was little; the frog was made by my Grandma Marguerite)

And Grandpa Doug would be so proud that this picture of Troy Aikman now resides in his first grandbaby's room

The crib (my dear friend Erin painted the letters)

The mobile (he absolutely loves this; when he wakes up in the morning, he doesn't cry anymore; he just watches this)

The dresser

The rocking chair (my wonderful cousin Becky painted the initials and the baseballs)

The closet (my wonderful Aunt Terri and cousin Rachel bought the cubbies; they're wonderful!)

Lots of our families helped us with this nursery and we appreciate every single one of you! We couldn't be more happier with it and it's inhabitant:)

Easter Weekend

I'm so far behind! I have so many blog posts up my sleeve, but I'm working on a huge project for Mother's Day for my mom (Mimi) and Nick's mom (Grammy), so I'll post as often as I can until then!

Easter was so fun this year:) It's like I get to relive all these holidays all over with a child! My mom gets us Easter baskets, but it's so fun to buy them for a child. It'll be even more fun as he gets older to pick out the goodies (and eventually candy) that he likes and to hide eggs:) Oh, I can't wait, but this year was wonderful, too!

I posted the picture of him with the paint...

Well, here's what it was for! His Easter present for his grandparents:) A card and a picture of him!

We turned his handprint into a chick:)

The Easter picture of him is in the frame and he has a chick at his feet:) All the grandparents absolutely loved that he hand-made them something. So special!

Here he is on Easter Sunday still asleep in his carseat. We sat Jovie next to him. My two babies:)

Here's Lucas and Mommy!

Lucas and Mommy with cousins Mallory and Heidi:)

Our Little Family of Three:)

His first look at his Easter basket! I think I was more excited than him! Silly me, I didn't get a picture of his Easter basket:( He had a children's Bible, a "Jesus Loves Me" sing-a-long book, a book called "The Easter Egg", a CD, an outfit, and a cute duckie:)

The three ladies:) Cassie and I always coordinate on Easter. Well, we didn't try this year, but we kind do with the blues, anyway!

It was such a fun holiday and it will be amazing when he can fully understand what this holiday represents. Our wonderful Savior, Jesus Christ, coming to earth to die for our sins and raising up, conquering death once and for all! I can't wait to experience many more holidays with him!
